The Washington Wizards invade the United Center to do battle with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting routed by the Lakers in a 130-119 loss on Sunday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 27 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Kyle Kuzma added 26 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Daniel Gafford chipped in with 19 points on nine of 10 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 39 from the 3-point line and they played decent defense on every Lakers player except for Anthony Davis who torched them for 55 points on 22 of 30 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling short against the Kings in a 110-101 road loss on Sunday. Zach LaVine led the team with 41 points, eight rebounds and four steals, DeMar DeRozan added 18 points while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Bulls shot 44 percent from the field and nine of 25 from the 3-point line as they poured in 31 points in the third quarter to cut an early 18-point deficit to just one point, only to get blown out in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 0-3-2 ATS in their last five road games, 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team below .400 and 1-7-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Bulls are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 13-5-1 in the last 19 meetings in Chicago, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Chicago and the Wizards are 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.
The Wizards are shorthanded again as Bradley Beal and Rui Hachimura are still out, while the Bulls have listed Javonte Green as doubtful and Alex Caruso as day to day. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence these days given their current form, but there’s a little more to life about the Bulls who have their core all healthy and playing. The Wizards are only 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall and I’m backing that trend to continue as the Bulls should be good enough to get the win here.
