The Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past five games and they will be looking to build some momentum after sneaking past the Hornets in a 119-117 road win on Monday. Paul George led the team with 19 points and seven assists on eight of 15 shooting, Kawhi Leonard added 16 points while Reggie Jackson and Nicolas Batum each scored 13 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 48 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 13-point lead to fall behind by nine points before they poured in 35 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a nine-game losing streak after falling short to the Bucks in a 109-102 loss on Monday. Franz Wagner led the team with 25 points on eight of 13 shooting, Paolo Banchero and Markelle Fultz each scored 20 points while Moritz Wagner chipped in with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Magic shot just 36 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and scored just 21 points in the first quarter to trail by as many as 19 points, before they poured in 30 points in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores respectable.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team below .400 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 19-6-3 in the last 28 meetings overall, the Clippers are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and the Clippers are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando.
The Clippers are shorthanded again as Norman Powell, Marcus Morris and John Wall are all out, while the Magic have ruled out Chuma Okeke, Gary Harris and Jalen Suggs once again. The Clippers are coming into this meeting as the team in better form and they’re only going to get better with key players Leonard and George back on the court. The Clippers are also 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando, so I’ll back the Clippers to get the job done in this spot.
