The Los Angeles Lakers collide with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their past 10 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Wizards in a 130-119 road win on Sunday. Anthony Davis led the team with 55 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks on 22 of 30 shooting, LeBron James added 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Lonnie Walker chipped in with 20 points on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Lakers shot 54 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half by 68-50, before they poured in another 37 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 29 points. The Lakers got nothing from their reserves as no bench player scored more than six points, but that was because they were just feeding Davis who barely missed all night.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in strong form themselves as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after laying an egg against the Knicks in a 92-81 road loss on Sunday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 23 points and five assists, Darius Garland added 17 points while Evan Mobley tallied 11 points with 10 rebounds and four blocks. As a team, the Cavaliers shot a miserable 34 percent from the field and eight of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and scored just 16 points in the first quarter to fall behind early and they never really found their footing as they finished with just 38 points in the second half. Garland had a rough night as he shot just five of 19 from the field while committing four turnovers while Mitchell shot just two of 11 from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Cavaliers are 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13 home games and 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.
Head to head, the over is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings overall and the over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings in Cleveland.
The Lakers should be at full strength for this one as both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are listed as probable, while the Cavaliers are keeping an eye on Jarrett Allen who is listed as questionable for this one. The Lakers have really turned their season around thanks largely to Davis who has caught fire recently. The Cavaliers have been the more consistent team all season, but they didn’t look anything like themselves in Sunday’s loss to the Knicks. It’s tempting to take the Cavaliers at the short line at home where they are 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13, but the Cavaliers will struggle to contain Davis if Allen isn’t able to suit up. This should be a close one, but I’ll lean towards the Lakers to pull off the minor upset here.
