The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the State Farm Arena on Monday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last five games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Timberwolves in a 135-128 road win on Saturday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 33 points and six assists on 10 of 17 shooting, Josh Giddey tallied 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists while Lugentz Dort chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 51 percent from the field and 11 of 26 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 11-point lead when they allowed 44 points in the third quarter, but they refused to give in and rallied with 38 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and escape with the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be looking to build on a two-game win streak after outlasting the in-form Nuggets in a 117-109 win on Friday. Dejounte Murray led the team with 34 points and eight assists on 13 of 22 shooting, AJ Griffin added 24 points on 11 of 16 shooting while Clint Capela chipped in with 12 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot 55 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Nuggets and closed the second quarter on a 18-4 run to take the early lead, before they closed the game on an 11-6 run in the final 3:19 to earn the gritty win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 35-16 ATS in their last 51 road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Thunder are 24-11 ATS in the last 35 meetings overall and the Thunder are 16-6 ATS in the last 22 meetings in Atlanta.
The Thunder should be at full strength for this one which is a rarity these days, while the Hawks will be shorthanded again as John Collins, Trent Forrest and De’Andre Hunter are all out. The Thunder have been struggling a bit with Gilgeous-Alexander slipping in and out of the lineup, but he is back healthy and the Thunder just beat the Timberwolves for their second straight win. The Hawks are coming into this one full of confidence after beating the Nuggets despite playing without Trae Young on Friday, but he isn't listed on the injury report for this one. This should be a close one, so while I like the Hawks to get the win, the Thunder are 16-6 ATS in the last 22 meetings in Atlanta and I think they can get the cover here.
