The Oklahoma City Thunder invade the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after beating the Spurs in a 119-111 home win on Wednesday. Jalen Williams led the team with 27 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Luguentz Dort added 23 points while Josh Giddey tallied 14 points with 14 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Thunder shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and trailed by 17 points going into halftime, but it was like a different team come out of the locker rooms as they dominated the second half by 59-34 to make it look easy in the end.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Grizzlies in a 109-101 home win on Wednesday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 29 points, five assists and five steals, Jaylen Nowell added 24 points off the bench while D'Angelo Russell chipped in with 15 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the 3-point line as they went ice-cold and scored just 17 points in the second quarter to trail by nine points, before they loosened up and exploded for 65 points in the second half to earn the gritty win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 34-15 ATS in their last 49 road games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games playing on two days rest. The Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Thunder are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Thunder are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Minnesota.
The Thunder could be shorthanded for this one as Mike Muscala and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are both listed as questionable, while the Timberwolves are again without Karl-Anthony Towns and Taurean Prince for this one. This would be a good contest if both teams were at full strength, but with the Thunder potentially missing Gilgeous-Alexander, I have to lean towards the Timberwolves to get the job done behind another big game from Edwards who was big in Wednesday’s win over the Grizzlies.
