The Orlando Magic invade the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a six-game slide after getting routed by the Hawks in a 125-108 loss on Wednesday. Franz Wagner led the team with 22 points on eight of 17 shooting, Paolo Banchero added 20 points with five assists while Terrence Ross chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 49 percent from the field and eight of 27 from the 3-point line, but they had no answer for the Hawks’ starters early on and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing 70 points in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games and they will be hoping to stay hot after dismantling the 76ers in a 113-85 home win on Wednesday. Caris LeVert led the team with 22 points on eight of 11 shooting off the bench, Darius Garland added 21 points with nine assists while Donovan Mitchell chipped in with 18 points and six assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot a sizzling 60 percent from the field and 15 of 29 from the 3-point line as they held the 76res to just 21 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before exploding for 44 points in the second quarter to take a 21-point lead into halftime.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cavaliers are 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 home games, 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games following a win of more than 10 points and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a win.
Head to head, the under is 12-3 in the last 15 meetings overall and the Magic are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Magic are going to be shorthanded once again as Gary Harris, Chuma Okeke, Jalen Suggs and Wendell Carter Jr are all out, while the Cavaliers will be missing Jarrett Allen and Kevin Love again. The Magic are coming into this meeting ice-cold and they didn’t look good in their blowout loss to the Hawks in their last outing, so I’ll happily side with the Cavaliers to stay hot with another win and cover after they made light work of the 76ers on Wednesday.
