The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Denver Nuggets at the State Farm Arena on Friday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in great form as they’ve won five of their past six games and they will be eager to build on their four-game win streak after blowing past the lowly Rockets in a 120-100 home win on Wednesday. Jamal Murray led the team with 26 points on nine of 15 shooting, Aaron Gordon added 29 points, Bruce Brown scored 18 points while Nikola Jokic tallied 17 points with nine rebounds and 12 assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 53 percent from the field and an efficient 17 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 44 points in the first quarter to take the early lead which ballooned to 33 points in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games, but they will be feeling better after they were able to arrest a three-game skid with a 125-108 road win over the Magic on Wednesday. Trae Young led the team with 30 points and 14 assists, Dejounte Murray added 27 points with six assists while Clint Capela chipped in with 20 points and 12 rebounds on nine of 10 shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot 54 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and never looked in danger after exploding for 70 points in the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Nuggets are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Atlanta and the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Nuggets should have Jamal Murray back in the lineup, but they will again be missing Jeff Green and Michael Porter Jr, while the Hawks are still missing De’Andre Hunter and John Collins while Clint Capela is listed as day to day. The Nuggets have made the most of an easy stretch of their schedule and they are coming into this one with plenty of momentum while the Hawks were in trouble before they were able to beat the lowly Magic on Wednesday. You can make an argument for either side here, but I’m sticking with the more consistent Nuggets to get the job done as the Hawks are low on troops for this one.
