The Washington Wizards travel to the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last six games and they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 142-127 win over the Timberwolves on Monday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 41 points on 12 of 18 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 23 points, eight rebounds and nine assists while Bradley Beal chipped in with 22 points and five assists on nine of 14 shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot a healthy 57 percent from the field and 15 of 31 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 38 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before pouring in another 39 points in the second half to take a 19-point lead into halftime which allowed them to cruise in the second half.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Magic in a 109-102 home win on Monday. Kevin Durant led the team with 45 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 19 of 24 shooting, Kyrie Irving added 20 points while Nic Claxton and Joe Harris scored 17 points apiece. As a team, the Nets shot 54 percent from the field and nine of 28 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Magic in a closely contest first half, before they exploded for 35 points in the third quarter to pull away thanks to a scoring barrage from Durant.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points, 6-20-1 ATS in their last 27 games following a win and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Nets are 13-37-1 ATS in their last 51 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 home games against a team with a road record below .400.
Head to head, the Wizards are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Wizards will again be missing Delon Wright and Rui Hachimura while the Nets have ruled out Yuta Watanabe and Ben Simmons for this one. The Wizards came back to form with a dominant win over the Timberwolves on Monday and they are looking better with every game that Porzingis plays, but so are the Nets who just beat the Magic thanks to a 45-point performance from Kevin Durant. The Wizards will be out for revenge after getting destroyed by the Nets by 128-86 back on Nov 4 and I think they’re good enough to get the job done here.
