The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past nine games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Hawks in a 104-101 home win on Monday. Joel Embiid led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two blocks, Tobias Harris added 24 points with 10 rebounds while Shake Milton chipped in with 21 points and seven assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and fell into an early 16-point deficit in the first quarter, but they clamped down defensively and clawed their way back before holding the Hawks to just one point in the final 1:53 to escape with the narrow victory.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Raptors in a 100-88 road loss on Monday. Evan Mobley led the team in scoring with 18 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, Darius Garland added 18 points with 10 assists, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 37 percent from the field and seven of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and were never really in the contest after scoring just 19 points in the second quarter. Donovan Mitchell shot just three of 11 for his eight points while Isaac Okoro finished with just two points on one of 11 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Cavaliers are 0-4-2 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 3-7-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings in Cleveland, the 76ers are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland and the 76ers are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Cavaliers will again be missing Kevin Love and Jarrett Allen, while the 76ers will be missing Tyrese Maxey and Jaden Springer once again. The 76ers are coming into this one as the team in better form, but the Cavaliers open as favorites in this spot as they are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games. You can make an argument for either side here, but the 76ers are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the Cavaliers get a much-needed win at home.
