The Minnesota Timberwolves play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Target Center on Wednesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last seven games overall, but they will be aiming for a third straight win in this one after outlasting the Knicks in a 127-123 road win on Sunday. Ja Morant led the team with a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists, Dillon Brooks added 23 points, Jaren Jackson Jr scored 21 points while Steven Adams chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 48 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they took a narrow lead into halftime, before they exploded for 39 points in the third quarter to push the margin out to 12 points which proved to be just enough in the end as the Knicks rallied with 40 points in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have cooled off from their five-game win streak as they are now looking to snap a three-game losing streak after getting routed by the Wizards in a 142-127 road loss on Monday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and two assists, Jaylen Nowell added 23 points off the bench, Rudy Gobert tallied 19 points on seven of seven shooting while D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 17 points and five assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 50 percent from the field and seven of 27 from the 3-point line, but their defense left a lot to be desired as they were always fighting a losing battle after allowing the Wizards to pour in a concerning 77 points in the first half. The Timberwolves dominated the boards and grabbed 15 offensive rebounds, but they committed 18 turnovers and were poor from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on two days rest and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record. The Timberwolves are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota and the Grizzlies are 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall.
The Grizzlies are still without Desmond Bane and Jake LaRavia, while Dillon Brooks is listed as day to day. The Timberwolves don’t have a single player listed on the injury report which is such a rarity in the league these days, but it hasn’t helped them recently as they’ve lost their last three. I want to take the Timberwolves to get the win at home, but they are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record. The Grizzlies are coming in as the hotter team and I think they get it done with another big game from Morant.
