The Orlando Magic play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut as they’ve love four of their past five games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling short to the 76res in a 104-101 road loss on Monday. Thaddeus Young and DeAndre Hunter each scored 18 points, Dejounte Murray added 17 points with six assists while Clint Capela tallied 10 points with 16 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 34 points in the first quarter to build an early 16-point lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace against the stingy defense of the 76ers and eventually came up short as they managed just one point in the final 1:53 to allow the 76ers to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after falling to the Nets in a 109-102 road loss on Monday. Paolo Banchero led the team with 24 points and five assists, Bol Bol added 24 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Franz Wagner scored 21 points while Gary Harris chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Magic shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a decent start and kept pace with the Nets in the first half, but there was no stopping the Nets’ Kevin Durant in the third quarter where the Nets poured in 35 points to pull away and steal the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 18-38 ATS in their last 56 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Magic are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 42-20 in the last 62 meetings overall, the Hawks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando and the Hawks are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Hawks could be shorthanded once again as Jalen Johnson and Bogdan Bogdanovic are both listed as doubtful, while the Magic are missing Jalen Suggs, Chuma Okeke and Wendell Carter Jr. with Mo Bamba listed as questionable. The Hawks have been a little below their best lately and they aren’t the best road team, but they are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and I think they get back to form with a win here.
