The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their past 14 games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting dismantled by the Warriors in a 137-114 loss last night. Anthony Edwards led the team with 26 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points while Jaylen Nowell chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line but they got of to a terrible start and were never in the contest after allowing the Warriors to explode for 47 points in the first quarter to put them behind big right from the start.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a bit of a rut of their own as they’ve lost four of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling to the Celtics in a 130-121 road loss last night. Bradley Beal led the team with 30 points, five rebounds and four assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 21 points on seven of 11 shooting while Monte Morris chipped in with 16 points and eight assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 53 percent from the field and seven of 28 from the 3-point line but they were poor on the defensive end and trailed in this one by as many as 26 points in the third quarter before they rallied in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores respectable.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Wizards are 36-16-2 ATS in their last 54 games playing on zero days’ rest, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Washington.
The Timberwolves will be missing Jordan McLaughlin again, while the Wizards have listed Monte Morris, Rui Hachimura and Johnny Davis as questionable. The Timberwolves will be disappointed with their recent form as they haven’t been able to build much momentum despite being one of the healthier teams in the league. The Wizards haven’t been playing much better and their confidence took another hit after last night’s loss to the Celtics. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Timberwolves are 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Washington, so I’ll lean with the Wizards in this spot.
