The Oklahoma City Thunder pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Saturday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after snapping a three-game skid with a 123-119 overtime win over the Bulls last night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Darius Bazley added 17 points on seven of nine shooting off the bench, Aleksej Pokusevski scored 15 points while Josh Giddey tallied 10 points with 13 rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Thunder shot 46 percent from the field and seven of 29 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter to allow the Bulls back into the contest, but they made up for it in overtime to escape with the much-needed win.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum after sneaking past the Hawks in a 128-122 upset win last night. Jalen Green led the team with 30 points and five assists on 10 of 17 shooting, Garrison Matthews added 20 points off the bench while Jabari Smith Jr and Kenyon Martin Jr scored 21 points apiece. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after trailing by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, but they came to life with a 34-18 fourth quarter to pull off the unlikely victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 road games, 27-13-1 ATS in their last 41 games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games against a team with a home record below .400. The Rockets are 28-58 ATS in their last 86 home games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Thunder are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Houston.
The Thunder were on a worrying three-game skid before their thrilling overtime win over the Bulls last night, so they will be full of confidence coming into this one, but they will be weary of this streaky Rockets team who just rallied back from a 16-point deficit against the Hawks last night. The Rockets looked great in last night’s comeback win, but they’ve yet to win back to back games this season, so I’ll stick with the more reliable Thunder to maintain their momentum with another win on the road.
