The Portland Trail Blazers travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks on Friday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a real funk as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game skid after getting routed by the Cavaliers in a 114-96 road loss on Wednesday. Jusuf Nurkic led the team with 22 points on nine of 14 shooting, Jerami Grant added 21 points while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 20 points and six assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and were always fighting an uphill battle as they couldn’t contain the duo of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland who combined to burn them for 58 points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Thunder in a 129-119 road win on Monday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 34 points and nine assists of 14 of 20 shooting, Julius Randle and RJ Barrett each scored 25 points while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 52 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 69 points in the first half to build an early 17-point lead, which proved to be enough to keep the Thunder at the bay for the rest of the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 10-24 ATS in their last 34 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Knicks are 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 0-8 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a road record above .600.
Head to head, the under is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings overall, the Trail Blazers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in New York and the Trail Blazers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Trail Blazers are keeping an eye on Drew Eubanks who is listed as questionable for this one, while the Knicks have listed Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose and Mitchell Robinson as questionable. The Trail Blazers have struggled to stay competitive since losing Damian Lillard to injury and they will be eager to put up a better performance after getting blown out on Wednesday. The Knicks have started to build some momentum and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their win over the Thunder. The Trail Blazers still have plenty of firepower to get the job done, but the Knicks are the team in better form, they haven’t played since Monday and they are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
