The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Spectrum Center to battle the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in pretty good shape recently as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be eager to stay hot after last night’s 115-106 win over the Nets. Tobias Harris led the team with 24 points on 10 of 21 shooting, De’Anthony Melton added 22 points while Shake Milton and Georges Niang each scored 16 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 43 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to take the early lead before pouring in 30 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and earn the impressive win. The 76ers were efficient from behind the arc, they committed just nine turnovers and they grabbed a total of 20 offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game slide after falling short to the Wizards in a 106-102 road loss on Sunday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 23 points on 10 of 20 shooting, Gordon Hayward added 20 points while PJ Washington chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Hornets shot just 39 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they held the Wizards to just 18 points in the third quarter to overcome a 10-point deficit, but they managed just 23 points themselves in the fourth quarter to allow the Wizards to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games against a team with a losing home record. The Hornets are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 games playing on two days’ rest and 3-7-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings overall, the 76ers are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the 76ers are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Charlotte.
The 76ers are going to be shorthanded again as Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey are both out while Matisse Thybulle is listed as day to day. The Hornets will also be missing a couple of players as Cody Martin and LaMelo Ball have both been ruled out. The 76ers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on zero day’' rest, while the Hornets are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five home games. This is a great opportunity to snag a win against a weary opponent, but they’ve been playing so poorly lately that I have to stick with the 76ers to get the narrow win here.
