The Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last seven games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling painfully short to the Nuggets in a 98-97 loss on Sunday. Josh Green led the team with 23 points on eight of nine shooting off the bench, Luka Doncic tallied 22 points with nine rebounds and eight assists while Davis Bertans chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 44 percent from the field and 15 of 42 from the 3-point line as they wrestled with the Nuggets in a tight contest, until the final 3:44 where they managed just two points to allow the Nuggets to escape in the end.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been one of the hottest teams in the league as they were riding a nine-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Bulls in a 121-107 road loss on Monday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 28 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, Jaylen Brown added 25 points while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 23 points and six assists off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 43 percent from the field and 19 of 50 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and quickly found themselves trailing by 13 points at halftime and by as many as 21 points in the third quarter before they found their groove.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The Celtics are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Mavericks are 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Boston.
The Mavericks have ruled out Maxi Kleber and they are keeping an eye on Spencer Dinwiddie who is listed as questionable, while the Celtics are keeping an eye on Jayson Tatum who is listed as questionable due to a left ankle sprain. The potential absence of Tatum plays a big factor in this contest as he just does so much for the Celtics, but the Mavericks just haven’t been playing that well lately and I don’t think they’re going to be good enough to take advantage here. The Mavericks are only 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games, so I’ll back the Celtics who are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss.
