The Portland Trail Blazers and the Milwaukee Bucks collide at the Fiserv Forum on Monday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their last four overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after losing the Jazz in a 118-113 defeat on Saturday. Anfernee Simons led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals, Josh Hart added 19 points while Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 18 points on eight of 10 shooting. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they allowed 38 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 19 points which proved too much to overcome with Damian Lillard scoring just 13 points on two of 14 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have cooled off in recent games as they’ve lost four of their past six games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the 76ers in a 110-102 road loss on Friday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 25 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, Bobby Portis added 21 points on nine of 13 shooting while Brook Lopez chipped in with 15 points and four blocks. As a team, the Bucks shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the first quarter to build an early 13-point lead, but they couldn’t keep it going and managed just 40 points in the second half to allow the 76ers to run them down. Jevon Carter had a rough night as he scored just seven points on three of nine shooting while Antetokounmpo made just four of 15 from the free throw line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Bucks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games following a loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four Monday games.
Head to head, the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings in Milwaukee, the Trail Blazers are 5-16-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings overall and the Trail Blazers are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Milwaukee.
The Trail Blazers are going to be shorthanded once again as Damian Lillard, Keon Johnson and Gary Payton are all out, while the Bucks are still without Joe Ingles, Wesley Matthews and Khris Middleton. The Trail Blazers started the season as one of the surprise teams of the league, but their recent decline has coincided with the injury to Lillard. The Bucks have been able to string together wins despite missing some key players and I think they can take advantage of a Trail Blazers team who aren’t nearly as dangerous with Lillard in street clothes. The Bucks will be eager to get the bitter taste of defeat from their mouths after losing to the 76ers and I think they bounce back at home.
