The Dallas Mavericks and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won five of their last six games overall and they will be aiming for a fifth straight victory after outlasting the Nets in a 96-94 win on Monday. Luka Doncic led the way with 36 points, six rebounds and six assists, Dorian Finney-Smith added 18 points while Josh Green chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 28 from the 3-point line as they went on a pivotal 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to build a 10-point lead, only to win with a bit of luck as the Nets’ Kevin Durant missed a key free throw that would’ve sent the game into overtime.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their first 11 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling short to the lowly Rockets in a 134-127 home loss on Monday. Paolo Banchero led the team with 30 points, six rebounds and four assists, Franz Wagner added 23 points with seven assists while Terrence Ross chipped in with 21 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 54 percent from the field and 12 of 25 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the hot-shooting Rockets in a close contest until the third quarter where the deficit ballooned to 17 points. The Magic poured in 39 points in the fourth quarter to get to within three points but no closer.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Magic are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 25-10 in the last 35 meetings overall and the Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Orlando.
The Mavericks will again be missing Christian Wood and Davis Bertans, while Tim Hardaway Jr. is listed as questionable. The Magic are also shorthanded for this one as Moritz Wagner, Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris and Cole Anthony are all out while Paolo Banchero is listed as questionable. Even though the Magic have been poor, they can certainly surprise the Mavericks if Banchero is able to suit up, but assuming that he doesn’t play, I’ll go with the Mavericks to keep their win streak alive in this one.
