The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Washington Wizards at the FedExForum on Sunday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping for a better performance after getting completely destroyed by the Nets in a 128-86 loss on Friday. Bradley Beal led the way with 20 points on eight of 17 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 19 points while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 14 points, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Wizards shot just 36 percent from the field and eight of 34 from the 3-point line as they cut an early 12-point deficit to just two points, before getting blown out in the second half where they scored a miserly 29 points. Will Barton scored just three points on one of eight shooting while Corey Kispert scored just two points on zero of six shooting.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their first nine games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after making light work of the struggling Hornets in a 130-99 home win on Friday. Dillon Brooks led the way with 23 points on eight of 12 shooting, Desmond Bane added 19 points, Steven Adams scored 13 points with 19 rebounds and two blocks while Ja Morant tallied 12 points with 11 assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 41 points in the first quarter to build a 24-point halftime lead which grew to 44 points in the second half which allowed them to rest their starters early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 road games, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 17-35-2 ATS in their last 54 games overall. The Grizzlies are 23-7 ATS in their last 30 home games, 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Wizards are 5-17-1 ATS in the last 23 meetings in Memphis.
The Wizards are still missing Delon Wright, while the Grizzlies are still without Jaren Jackson Jr and Ziaire Williams. The Wizards haven’t been able to build any momentum lately despite being almost at full health and they just got dismantled by the shorthanded Nets in their biggest loss so far. The Grizzlies have continued to pile on the wins, they just blew past the Hornets by 31 points in a game where no starter played their usual minutes. It’s a classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions, so I’ll stick with the Grizzlies to get the job done at home in this spot.
