The Indiana Pacers play host to the Miami Heat at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Kings in a 110-107 home win on Wednesday. Tyler Herro led the way with 26 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, Kyle Lowry added 22 points with seven assists while Bam Adebayo chipped in with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Heat shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and held a narrow lead for most of the contest, before they poured in 33 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their first eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their two-game win streak halted by the Nets in a 116-109 road loss on Monday. Chris Duarte led the team with 30 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Buddy Hield added 22 points with seven assists while Benedict Mathurin chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and had to claw their way back from a 24-point deficit, only to see the Nets close the final 6:27 on a 16-9 run to snatch the game from them.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 0-7 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Pacers are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on three or more days rest and 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Indiana, the Heat are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Heat are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Indiana.
The Heat could be shorthanded for this one as Jimmy Butler and Victor Oladipo are both out, while Bam Adebayo is currently listed as questionable. The Pacers are coming into this meeting low on confidence after dropping their last two games, but they showed plenty of fight to rally back from a 24-point deficit against the Nets and they could be dangerous in this spot. The Heat are playing the better basketball at the moment, but with all the injuries, I’ll lean towards the Pacers and the points in what should be a close one.
