The Boston Celtics play host to the Chicago Bulls at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in great shape as they’ve won four of their past six games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after routing the Hornets in a 106-88 home win on Wednesday. Javonte Green led the team with 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, Patrick Williams and Goran Dragic scored 16 points each while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Bulls shot just 43 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the second quarter to take a nine-point lead into halftime, before they restricted the Hornets to just 36 points in the second half to make it a complete blowout in the end despite some poor shooting from their stars. DeMar DeRozan scored just nine points on two of 11 shooting while Zach LaVine scored just 10 points on four of 16 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting stopped in their tracks by the red-hot Cavaliers in a 114-113 overtime road loss on Wednesday. Jaylen Brown led the way with 30 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Jayson Tatum added 26 points with 12 rebounds and six assists while Marcus Smart chipped in with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 40 percent from the field and 11 of 41 from the 3-point line as they rallied to force the extra period after squandering a 12-point lead, only to come up painfully short to the Cavaliers in overtime.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine road games, 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 games playing on one days rest and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. The Celtics are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Bulls are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Bulls will be shorthanded here as Lonzo Ball, Andre Drummond and Coby White are all out, while the Celtics are still missing Robert Williams. The Bulls have started to heat up lately and they will take plenty of confidence from their blowout win over the Hornets despite poor shooting nights from their two top scorers. The Celtics could do with a win to get back on track after dropping a close one to the Cavaliers in their last outing and I think they can get it done, but Bulls have been playing too well to be such underdogs in this spot. With that being said, I’ll lean towards the Bulls and the points in a close one.
