The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night in NBA action.
The Washington Wizards have been struggling lately as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after losing to the 76ers in a 118-111 defeat on Monday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Bradley Beal added 20 points with six assists while Monte Morris chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the 76ers in a tight contest, until the third quarter where they got outscored by 34-21 to trail by as many as 18 points.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have started to heat up with four wins in their last five outings and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Wizards on Monday. Tyrese Maxey led the way with 28 points on 12 of 22 shooting, James Harden racked up 23 points with seven rebounds and 17 assists while Tobias Harris and De’Anthony Melton scored 15 points apiece. As a team, the 76ers shot 55 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line but they couldn’t shake the pesky Wizards until they closed the third quarter on a pivotal 18-2 run to pull away and keep their win streak alive.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 16-34-2 ATS in their last 52 games overall. The 76ers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Philadelphia.
The 76ers are starting to build some momentum but they could be shorthanded for this one as Joel Embiid is currently listed as questionable with an illness. The Wizards will be out for revenge in this one, but they’ve really struggled with four losses in their past five games. I like the 76ers to get the job done at home, but with the line so hefty, I’m more inclined to take the Wizards to stay in the contest and get the cover in the end.
