The Sacramento Kings and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Monday night.
The Sacramento Kings have endured a rough start to the season as they lost four games in a row before finally breaking through with a 119-113 win over the Heat on Saturday. Kevin Huerter drained seven 3-pointers to lead the team with 27 points and seven assists, Keegan Murray added 22 points, Domantas Sabonis scored 18 points on eight of nine shooting while De’Aaron Fox tallied 17 points with 13 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Kings shot 55 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the 3-point line as they came out guns blazing and set the tone with 71 points in the first quarter to take an early 22-point lead which turned out to be just enough in the end as the Heat rallied late.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in decent form as they’ve split their first six games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Warriors in a 120-113 overtime win on Saturday. PJ Washington led the way with 31 points on 13 of 23 shooting, Gordon Hayward added 23 points, Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 18 points while Dennis Smith Jr. tallied 13 points with nine rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Hornets shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 15-point lead in regulation before they made up for it in the overtime period where they held the Warriors to just six points to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Monday games. The Hornets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Kings are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Charlotte and the Kings are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Kings opened the season with four straight losses, but they are suddenly feeling pretty good about themselves after taking down the Heat in their last outing. The Hornets will again be without LaMelo Ball, Cody Martin and Terry Rozier, but they didn’t need them in their overtime win over the Warriors on Saturday. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Kings are just about at full strength and I think they can escape with the minor upset win in this spot.
