The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Indiana Pacers once again at the Barclays Center on Monday night.
The Indiana Pacers lost four of their first five games of the season, but they are starting to turn things around and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Nets in a 125-116 road win on Saturday. Benedict Mathurin led the team with 32 points on eight of 16 shooting off the bench, Tyrese Haliburton added 26 points with eight assists while Buddy Hield racked up 17 points with nine rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 42 percent from the field and a sizzling 23 of 46 from the 3-point line as they stayed in the fight against the Nets until the fourth quarter where they used a pivotal 13-5 run to pull away and escape with the impressive win.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets endured a rough start to the season as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after getting stopped by the Pacers on Saturday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 35 points and six assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Kevin Durant added 26 points while Royce O’Neale and Joe Harris each scored 11 points. As a team, the Nets shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line, but their reserves got outscored by the Pacers’ reserves by 47-27. Seth Curry made his season debut for the Nets but finished scoreless on zero of five shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win. The Nets are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 14-36-1 ATS in their last 51 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Pacers are 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings in Brooklyn and the Pacers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Pacers will be shorthanded once again as Daniel Theis is out while TJ McConnell and Aaron Nesmith are both questionable. The Nets are keeping an eye on Seth Curry who is questionable for this one after playing his season debut on Saturday. The Nets will be out for revenge in this one and I don’t see them losing two in a row at home to the Pacers, but Mathurin and Haliburton have been steering the team well lately and I think they can at least keep this one close in the end.
