The Washington Wizards and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Sunday night.
The Washington Wizards have won three of their first five games of the season, but they are looking to bounce back in this one after getting ambushed by the Pacers in a 127-117 loss on Friday. Bradley Beal led the way with 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 22 points while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line, but they weren’t locked on defensively and were never in the contest after leaking 75 points in the first half. The Wizards trailed on this night by as many as 20 points before a late run kept the final scores respectable.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics started their season with a three-game win streak, but they are now on a two-game skid after getting beaten by the Cavaliers in a 132-123 overtime loss on Friday. Jayson Tatum led the way with 32 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Jaylen Brown added 32 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Al Horford chipped in with 12 points on five of seven shooting. As a team, the Celtics shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they got next to no scoring from their bench players and Marcus Smart shot just three of 15 from the field for his 11 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Wizards are 4-13-1 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Boston.
The Wizards were on a decent run before getting stopped by the new-look Pacers on Friday and it was on the defensive end where they let themselves down. The Celtics have cooled off since their three-game win streak and they will be kicking themselves after losing in overtime to the Cavaliers on Friday. The Wizards are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games and 4-13-1 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Boston, so I’ll stick with the Celtics to bounce back into form with a win and cover here.
