The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the New York Knicks at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The New York Knicks have started the season well as they’ve won three of their first five games, but they will be eager to bounce back here after getting routed by the Bucks in a 119-108 road win on Friday. RJ Barrett led the team with 20 points, Julius Randle and Immanuel Quickley each scored 14 points while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 13 points on three of 10 shooting. As a team, the Knicks shot just 39 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line which was enough to keep them in the contest until about the third quarter where the Bucks poured in 37 points to pull away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great shape and they will be aiming for a fifth straight victory after outlasting the Celtics in a 132-123 overtime road win on Friday. Caris LeVert steered the offense with 41 points and seven assists, Donovan Mitchell added 41 points on 15 of 25 shooting while Evan Mobley tallied 19 points with 10 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 15-point deficit to force overtime where they outscored the Celtics by 18-9 to escape with the impressive win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record, 11-2 ATS in their last 13 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-4-1 in the last 14 meetings in Cleveland and the Knicks are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland.
The Knicks were on a nice run before they ran into the undefeated Bucks on Friday, while the Cavaliers have been on a tear with four straight wins and they will be full of confidence following their win over the Celtics. This should be a close one, but there’s more to like about the Cavaliers at the moment and I think they can stay hot with another win and cover at home.
