The Golden State Warriors and the Charlotte Hornets collide at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their first five games and they will be looking to stay hot after cooling off the Heat in a 123-110 home win on Thursday. Stephen Curry led the way with 33 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Klay Thompson added 19 points while Andrew Wiggins tallied 18 points with 10 rebounds and two assists. As a team, the Warriors shot 50 percent from the field and 18 of 46 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead and kept a narrow lead until the fourth quarter where they were able to pull away and win comfortably.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their last four games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Magic in a 113-93 road loss last night. Gordon Hayward led the team with 18 points, Nick Richards added 14 points off the bench while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 12 points on four of 16 shooting. As a team, the Hornets shot just 38 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to terrible start and were never in the contest after falling behind by 51-30 going into halftime. The Hornets actually trailed in this game by as many as 32 points which could’ve been worse if not for a 40-point burst in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. The Hornets are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days rest and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings overall and the under is 6-0 in the last six meetings in Charlotte.
The Warriors have been playing some decent basketball lately and they will be coming into this one full of confidence after routing the Heat on Thursday. The Hornets have really cooled off lately and they didn’t look good in their blowout loss to the rebuilding Magic last night. The Warriors are clearly the team in better form and they have the advantage of extra rest. I’ll stick with Curry and the Warriors to get the win and cover here.
