The Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons collide at Little Caesars Arena once again on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in great shape as they’ve won three of their first four games of the season and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Pistons in a 118-113 road win on Wednesday. Trae Young led the way with 35 points and six assists, John Collins added 19 points with 11 rebounds and four blocks while De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 17 points on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot 49 percent from the field and eight of 22 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, but their lead never grew to more than 12 points as the pesky Pistons just wouldn’t go away.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have endured a slow start to the season with just one win in their first five games and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short to the Hawks on Wednesday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 33 points on 12 of 21 shooting, Cade Cunningham added 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Saddiq Bey chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Hawks for most of the game, until the Hawks went on a pivotal 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 7-18 ATS in their last 25 road games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss. The Pistons are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 17-8 in the last 25 meetings overall, the Hawks are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Detroit and the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Hawks have begun the season in decent form and they will be full of confidence after taking down the Pistons back on Wednesday. You can make an argument for either side here but with the line so short, I'll stick with the Hawks to grab another win and cover here.
