The Boston Celtics invade the United Center to do battle with the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics will be gunning for a fourth straight victory to start their season after taking down the Magic in a 126-120 road win on Saturday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 40 points on 14 of 21 shooting, Derrick White added 27 points while Grant Williams chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 48 percent from the field and 19 of 47 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Magic in a free-flowing first half, before clamping down defensively in the second half to pull away and escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting destroyed by the Cavaliers in a 128-96 loss on Saturday. Zach LaVine led the team with 23 points and four assists on nine of 17 shooting, Nikola Vucevic added 16 points while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with just 13 points on three of nine shooting, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Bulls shot just 40 percent from the field and seven of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Cavaliers right from the start and trailed by 16 points at halftime and things only got worse in the fourth quarter where they managed just 17 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team below .400. The Bulls are 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Celtics are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Celtics are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Chicago.
The Celtics are the hottest team in the league at the moment and they will be full of confidence after outlasting the Magic thanks to a 40-point performance from Tatum. The Bulls are still banged up at the moment and they will still be nursing their wounds after getting thrashed by the Cavaliers on Saturday. I’m sure we will see a better effort from the Bulls after getting embarrassed in their last outing, but I’m sticking with the Celtics to stay undefeated with another win here.
