The Indiana Pacers play host to the San Antonio Spurs at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The San Antonio Spurs will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Hornets in a disappointing 129-102 home loss on Wednesday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Jakob Poeltl and Tyus Jones each scored 14 points while Doug McDermott chipped in with 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench. As a team, the Spurs shot just 40 percent from the field and seven of 34 from the 3-point line as they came out flat and got blown out from the start as they trailed by 16 points in the first quarter and never made any ground.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers will be looking to avoid a second straight home loss at coming up short against the Wizards in a 114-107 loss on Wednesday. Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 26 points and seven assists on 10 of 18 shooting, Jalen Smith and Buddy Hield each scored 16 points while Benedict Mathurin scored 19 points off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot just 40 percent from the field and 15 of 42 from the 3-point line but they were always on the back foot after allowing the Wizards to explode for 36 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 18 points early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Pacers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 home games.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Spurs are 2-10 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and the Spurs are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
The Spurs are just about at full strength for this one with nobody listed on the injury report, while the Pacers are missing Myles Turner and they will be keeping an eye on Aaron Nesmith and Jalen Smith who are both listed as questionable for this one. I’m expecting a better showing from the Spurs after they got embarrassed on Wednesday, but we’re just not getting enough free points from the bookies. With that being said, I’ll lean towards the shorthanded Pacers to get the win and cover at home in this spot.
