The Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out in Game 6 at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Miami Heat will be looking to earn their spot in the Eastern Conference Finals after blowing past the 76ers in a 120-85 win in Game 5 on Tuesday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Max Strus added 19 points with 10 rebounds while Gabe Vincent chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Heat shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, jumping out to a 31-19 first quarter lead, before they exploded for 39 points in the fourth quarter to make it a complete blowout. The Heat had a total of seven players finish in double figures in scoring and Butler was the only starter to play more than 31 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers held all the momentum after squaring up the series with two wins at home, but they’re suddenly fighting to keep their season alive after getting destroyed in Game 5. Joel Embiid led the team in scoring with 17 points, James Harden added 14 points with six rebounds and four assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the 76ers shot a miserly 36 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by double-digits early. Tyrese Maxey has been sensational for the 76ers in this series, but finished with just nine points on two of 10 shooting while Georges Niang finished scoreless on zero of six shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The 76ers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Philadelphia.
The Heat took care of business at home and were able to get within one win from moving onto the Eastern Conference Finals, so now the pressure is on the 76ers to win this one just to stay alive. Butler once again led from the front in the Heat’s dominant win in Game 5 and he got plenty of help from everyone as seven players finished in double figures in scoring, but the role players didn’t perform in Games 3 and 4, so we could be heading to a series decider. The home team has dominated in this series and I think that trend continues here as the 76ers bounce back and get the crucial win and cover at home.
