The Milwaukee Bucks invade the TD Garden to battle the Boston Celtics in a pivotal Game 5 on Wednesday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks held all the momentum in the series after they took Game 3, but they are suddenly on the back foot again after getting run down in a 116-108 loss in Game 4 on Monday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 34 points, 18 rebounds and five assists, Brook Lopez added 17 points while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Bucks shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and looked to be in control after leading by 11 points in the third quarter, but they couldn’t put the Celtics away and paid for it in the fourth quarter where they were outscored by 43-28. Bobby Portis had a quiet game as he finished wit just four points on two of seven shooting, but Holiday had a horror shooting night as he made just five of 22 from the field.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics managed the flip the series on its head with an explosive fourth quarter in Game 4 to level things up at 2-2. Jayson Tatum led the team with 30 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, Al Horford caught fire late to finish with 30 points on 11 of 14 shooting while Marcus and Jaylen Brown scored 18 points apiece. As a team, the Celtics shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed for most of the game after managing just 18 points in the first quarter, but they hung in the contest and pulled out the victory thanks largely to the veteran Horford who barely missed down the stretch.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Celtics are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings overall, the Bucks are 1-9-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and the Bucks are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Boston.
The Bucks will be kicking themselves after they let Game 4 slip right through their hands and they’re going to be on the brink of elimination if they come up short in this one. The Celtics would’ve taken so much confidence from their comeback victory on Monday thanks to a gem of playoff performance from Horford, but they will know to expect a real punch in the mouth from the Bucks, especially from Holiday who won’t shoot just five of 22 from the field again. I have this one going right down to the wire, so I’m taking any points I can get in this spot.
