The Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks duke it out in Game 4 at the Fiserv Forum on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics will be hoping to bounce back after coming up painfully short against the Bucks in a 103-101 loss in Game 3 on Saturday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 27 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Al Horford added 22 points with 16 rebounds and five assists while Derrick White chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot just 36 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 34 points in the fourth quarter to take the lead after trailing by as many as 14 points, only to go ice-cold when it mattered most as they managed just one point in the final 1:48 to allow the Bucks to escape in the end. Jayson Tatum had a night to forget as he scored just 10 points on four of 19 shooting while Marcus Smart scored just nine points on one of eight shooting.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks will be aiming to take a commanding 3-1 series lead after outlasting the Celtics in a gritty win on Saturday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 42 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, Jrue Holiday added 25 points with seven rebounds and three assists while Brook Lopez chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Bucks shot just 40 percent from the field and nine of 34 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 34 points in the third quarter to build a 14-point lead, before they closed the final 44.3 seconds on a crucial 4-1 run to escape with the win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games, 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Bucks are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Milwaukee, the Celtics are 8-1-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Celtics are 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Milwaukee.
The Celtics will be kicking themselves after missing out on a crucial chance to take the lead in the series, but they won’t be too disheartened as that was a wild game that could’ve easily gone their way. The Bucks will be growing in confidence thanks to a monster night from Antetokounmpo as their defense held up when they needed it most, but they really dodged a bullet after squandering a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter. I don’t expect Tatum and Smart to struggle as much as they did in Game 3, but I’m sure the Bucks’ supporting cast will step up after almost blowing it on Saturday. You can make an argument for either side here, but I think this series goes at least to six, so I’m taking the Celtics to pull off the minor upset in this spot to square up the series.
