The Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers collide in a pivotal Game 3 at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
The Miami Heat will be looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead after taking down the 76ers in a 119-103 win in Game 2 on Wednesday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Jimmy Butler added 22 points with 12 assists, Victor Oladipo scored 19 points off the bench while Tyler Herro chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Heat shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 29 from the 3-point line as they jumped out to an early lead and never really looked in trouble as they outscored the 76ers in every quarter.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers will be hoping to respond with a better showing at home after getting routed in Game 2. Tyrese Maxey led the team with an impressive 23 points on 12 of 22 shooting, Tobias Harris added 21 points while James Harden chipped in with 20 points and nine assists, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the 76ers shot just 45 percent from the field and eight of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Heat and would’ve gotten blown out by a lot more if not for Maxey who kept them within arms reach the entire game. Danny Green had a night to forget as he finished with just three points on one of 10 shooting from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 road games, 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The 76ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Heat are 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall.
The Heat had all the answers in the first two games of the series, so the 76ers are going to have to come up with something different if they want to stay alive in this series and they won’t have their leader Joel Embiid in the lineup as he has already been ruled out for this one. The 76ers need a monster night from Harden to get back into this series, but I just don’t see that happening the way he’s been playing. Yes, the 76ers will likely get better production from their role players and Danny Green won’t shoot one of 10 from the field again, but the Heat have all the momentum and all the answers and I think they go up 3-0 in this one.
