The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to level the series against the Miami Heat in Game 2 at the FTX Arena on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be going back to the drawing board after getting stopped in their tracks by the Heat in a 106-92 loss in Game 1 on Monday. Tobias Harris led the team with 27 points on 11 of 18 shooting, Tyrese Maxey added 19 points on six of 15 shooting while James Harden tallied 16 points with nine rebounds and five assists. As a team, the 76ers shot just 43 percent from the field and six of 34 from the 3-point line as they recovered from a slow start and held the Heat to just 20 points in the second quarter to take the lead at halftime, only to get blown out in the second half by 56-41 in a game where they never looked likely to win. Georges Niang had a night to forget as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting in 22 minutes off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 series lead after drawing first blood in the series opener on Monday. Tyler Herro led the team in scoring with 25 points and seven assists off the bench, Bam Adebayo added 24 points with 12 rebounds and four assists while Jimmy Butler chipped in with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Heat shot 43 percent from the field and nine of 36 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense in the first half, but they were better on the defensive end from that point on and were able to get over the line thanks to a scoring burst from Herro who was automatic the moment he stepped onto the court.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Heat are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the 76ers are 1-5-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Miami and the 76ers are 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The 76ers came out playing some decent basketball in the first half of Game 1 to take the lead into halftime thanks to a hot start from Harris and some fastbreak points from Maxey, but the Heat were comfortably the better team in the second half once the perimeter shots started dropping. The 76ers will once again be without Joel Embiid, but they did enjoy some success in the open court, so they might look to play at a faster tempo to help Harden on the offensive end. The Heat have a total of five players listed as questionable for this one, but assuming that they all play, I'd expect a similar margin of victory for the Heat at home in this spot.
