The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Miami Heat in Game 1 at the FTX Arena on Monday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers looked like they were set to complete the series sweep against the Raptors in the first round, but it took them six games to put them away. Joel Embiid led the team with averages of 26.2 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game before he got injured, Tyrese Maxey averaged 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists, James Harden averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 10.2 assists, while Tobias Harris scored 17.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. As a team, the 76ers scored 111.5 points while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from the 3-point line against the Raptors.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are coming into this game with all the momentum as they made light work of the shorthanded Hawks in a five-game series in the first round. Jimmy Butler led the team with averages of 30.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.8 steals per game, Tyler Herro averaged 12.8 points, Max Strus scored 14.0 points while Bam Adebayo averaged 12.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. As a team, the Heat averaged 109.4 points while shooting 46.5 percent and 34.4 percent from the 3-point line. Victor Oladipo has been working himself into shape and he scored 23 points in the closeout game to put away the Hawks while Kyle Lowry missed time with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for Game 1.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 road games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the 76ers are 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Miami.
The 76ers came into the playoffs with so much promise when they were up 3-0 in the series against the Raptors in the first round, but it took them three extra games to put away the Raptors and it cost them big as Embiid injured his orbital at the end of Game 6 which will see him miss at least the first two games of this series. The Heat have dealt with injuries all season and they didn’t let it slow them down in the first round against the Hawks, so the advantage definitely goes to the Heat with both teams shorthanded. The line is quite hefty for Game 1 of a playoff series, but the loss of Embiid is just too much for the 76ers to overcome on short notice against a deep team like the Heat. Give me the Heat to draw first blood with a win and cover in this spot behind a big game from Butler.
