The Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans meet Sunday in Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs at the Smoothie King Center. The Phoenix Suns have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. The New Orleans Pelicans need a win here to even up the series at 2-2.
The Phoenix Suns are averaging 112.7 points on 51.4 percent shooting and allowing 111.7 points on 46.5 percent shooting. Devin Booker is averaging 28 points and 3 rebounds, while Chris Paul is averaging 25 points and 4 rebounds. Deandre Ayton is the third double-digit scorer and Mikal Bridges is grabbing 4.3 rebounds. The Phoenix Suns are shooting 30.3 percent from beyond the arc and 80.3 percent from the free throw line. The Phoenix Suns are allowing 43.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 34.3 rebounds per game.
The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 111.7 points on 46.5 percent shooting and allowing 112.7 points on 51.4 percent shooting. Brandon Ingram is averaging 29.7 points and 7.7 rebounds, while CJ McCollum is averaging 26 points and 6.7 rebounds. Jonas Valanciunas is the third double-digit scorer and Herbert Jones is grabbing 2.3 rebounds. The New Orleans Pelicans are shooting 43.5 percent from beyond the arc and 75.3 percent from the free throw line. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 30.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.7 rebounds per game.
The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a road favorite and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite. The Pelicans are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Suns last 8 overall. The over is 4-1 in Pelicans last 5 overall. The Suns are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in New Orleans and 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings.
Once again, the Phoenix Suns and the small chalk is hard to turn down, simply because you don't get the Suns and these soft lines often. I wouldn't talk you off the ledge if that's the direction you're leaning. However, it's now been twice where the Suns have to rely on out of this world performances from CP3 offensively down the stretch, and it's a bit concerning. With no Booker around, the Suns can go through droughts, and I can't expect Chris Paul to come up like that every night. At home and pretty much a must win, the Pelicans have a fighting chance here. I'll grab the free bucket.
