The Denver Nuggets play host to the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 at the Ball Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden State Warriors will be looking to complete the series sweep after outlasting the Nuggets in a 118-113 road win in Game 3 on Thursday. Jordan Poole led the team with 27 points on nine of 13 shooting, Stephen Curry added 27 points and six assists off the bench, Klay Thompson added 26 points while Draymond Green chipped in with six points and 10 assists. As a team, the Warriors shot 55 percent from the field and 18 of 40 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 12-point lead after exploding for 69 points in the first half, before they won behind their defense as they held the Nuggets to just six points in the final 4:13.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets will be hoping to stave off elimination after coming up painfully short in Game 3. Nikola Jokic led the team with 37 points, 18 rebounds and five assists on 14 of 22 shooting, Aaron Gordon added 18 points with 12 rebounds and four assists while Will Barton chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 26 from the 3-point line as they held the Warriors to just 18 points in the third quarter to erase a 12-point deficit, only to come up short in the end as they could never find any reliable offense outside of Jokic.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Nuggets are 0-6 ATS in their last six playoff games as an underdog, 6-18 ATS in their last 24 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Warriors are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Denver and the Warriors are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Warriors will be full of confidence after taking care of business in Game 3 and they will have their eyes on the sweep now that they have the Nuggets on the ropes. The Warriors have been the better defensive team so far and the Nuggets really don’t have an answer for the Warriors’ trio of Curry, Thompson and Poole. I’m sure Jokic will have another monster game, but once again it will be in vain as the Warriors’ depth should prove too much for the shorthanded and underperforming Nuggets.
