The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets meet Saturday in Game 3 of the NBA Playoffs at the Barclays Center. The Boston Celtics look for a win to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. The Brooklyn Nets need a win here to cut the series deficit to 1-2.
The Boston Celtics are averaging 114.5 points on 49.4 percent shooting and allowing 110.5 points on 50 percent shooting. Jayson Tatum is averaging 25 points and 5 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown is averaging 22.5 points and 4.5 assists. Al Horford is the third double-digit scorer and Marcus Smart is grabbing 4 rebounds. The Boston Celtics are shooting 35.9 percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the free throw line. The Boston Celtics are allowing 46.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 39.5 rebounds per game.
The Brooklyn Nets are averaging 110.5 points on 50 percent shooting and allowing 114.5 points on 49.4 percent shooting. Kevin Durant is averaging 25 points and 4 assists, while Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Goran Dragic is the third double-digit scorer and Bruce Brown is grabbing 4.5 rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets are shooting 46.7 percent from beyond the arc and 79.3 percent from the free throw line. The Brooklyn Nets are allowing 35.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 32.5 rebounds per game.
The Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Nets are 6-26-1 ATS in their last 33 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The over is 18-7-1 in Celtics last 26 overall. The under is 6-2 in Nets last 8 overall. The Celtics are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Brooklyn and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
It's hard to turn down the Brooklyn Nets at home in a must-win game with the talent they have on their side. However, the Nets blew game two, and it's fair to question where they are mentally. The Boston Celtics have controlled the pace for much of the first two meetings, and it's quite clear they're the more balanced team here. Another thing to consider is that the Nets don't have a true hardcore fan base, and Boston isn't that far from Brooklyn. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's a good chunk of Celtics fans in the arena. We're getting some value with the Celtics and the free bucket.
