The Miami Heat travel to the State Farm Arena to battle the Atlanta Hawks in Game 3 on Friday night.
The Miami Heat will be looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead after taking care of business in a 115-105 win in Game 2 on Tuesday. The Jimmy Butler led team with 45 points, five rebounds and five assists on 15 of 25 shooting, Tyler Herro added 15 points off the bench while Max Strus chipped in with 14 points and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 48 percent from the field and 14 of 36 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Hawks in a tight contest until the third quarter where they went on a pivotal 13-2 run to gain some separation thanks to the hot hand of Butler. Kyle Lowry had himself a rough game as he finished with just nine points and two assists on two of eight shooting from the field while Duncan Robinson played just seven minutes to finish scoreless.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have yet to make their mark on this series and their confidence took another hit after getting routed by the Heat on Tuesday. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team in scoring with 29 points on 12 of 18 shooting off the bench, Trae Young added 25 points with six rebounds and seven assists while DeAndre Hunter chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Heat in a closely contested first half, but it all came undone in the third quarter where the Heat went on a 13-2 run to take the game away from them in the end. Kevin Huerter had a rough night as he scored just nine points on three of 10 shooting while Danilo Gallinari scored just two points on zero of six shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 road games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Hawks are 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog, 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the Heat are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Atlanta and the Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Heat have a few injuries to keep an eye on as Caleb Martin, Bam Adebayo and PJ Tucker are all listed as questionable, while the Hawks will again be missing Lou Williams and Clint Capela. The pressure is on the Hawks to get their first win and avoid falling into a 3-0 series deficit, but all the momentum is with the Heat who are 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 road games. The injury cloud over the Heat gives the Hawks a bit of a chance, but I’m sticking with the Heat to get the job done in a close one.
