The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out in the NBA Play-In at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers finished off the regular season with eight losses in their last 11 games and they will be aiming to take the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference when they battle the Nets on Tuesday. Darius Garland has led the team with averages of 21.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game, Jarrett Allen was averaging 16.1 points with 10.8 rebounds before he went down with injury, Evan Mobley averaged 15.0 points and 8.3 rebounds while Kevin Love has averaged 13.6 points,7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. As a team, the Cavaliers have averaged 107.8 points per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 35.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets are coming into this one with plenty of momentum as they won 12 of their last 16 games overall and they will be looking to build on their current four game-win streak. Kevin Durant has been a rock for the Nets as he has led the team with averages of 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game, Kyrie Irving played just 29 games to average 27.4 points and 5.7 assists per game, while James Harden has averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game. As a team, the Nets averaged 112.9 points per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Nets are 6-26-1 ATS in their last 33 home games, 11-28 ATS in their last 39 games as a favorite and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Cavaliers are 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Cavaliers have been plagued by injuries to key players all season and they will again be without Collin Sexton Dean Wade and Jarrett Allen, while the Nets are still waiting on the debut of Ben Simmons, but they should have Seth Curry in the lineup for this one. The Cavaliers have really impressed with how they’ve remained competitive all season, despite being hit hard by injuries and that’s mainly due to players like Garland, Mobley and even Love stepping up. The Nets have struggled with continuity all season as they’re superstars have barely spent any time on the court together, but they have plenty of experience in their lineup and that should be the difference in a game with such high stakes. The Cavaliers deserve plenty of credit for how they've scrapped all season against superior competition, but the Cavaliers are only 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Brooklyn and I think that trend continues here as the Nets should have too much firepower here.
