The Utah Jazz pay a visit to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on Sunday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in decent form as they’ve won three of their past five games, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after coming up just short to the Suns in a 111-105 loss on Friday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 21 points, Donovan Mitchell added 18 points with seven rebounds and five assists while Rudy Gobert chipped in with 16 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. As a team, the Jazz shot just 39 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 17-point deficit to lead by as many as 13 points in the third quarter, only to go ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 13 points to allow the Suns to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been on a downward spiral as they’ve lost 14 of their last 15 games and they will be hoping to avoid an 11th straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Mavericks in a 128-78 road loss on Friday. Drew Eubanks led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds, Ben McLemore added 14 points while Keon Johnson chipped in with 10 points but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 37 percent from the field and seven of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and never looked in the contest after getting outscored by 36-13 in the first quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 road games and 16-34-4 ATS in their last 54 games overall. The Trail Blazers are 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 9-23 ATS in their last 32 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 17-8 in the last 25 meetings in Portland and the Jazz are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Jazz are almost at full strength for this one, while the Trail Blazers will again be missing at least 10 players including Josh Hart, Justise Winslow and Anfernee Simons, so who knows who will line up for them in their last game of their season. The Jazz have opened as massive favorites here and I have to say that I agree with the line. The Trail Blazers have been the doormats of the league for a while now and they are coming into this one fresh off a 50-point loss to the Mavericks. The Jazz haven’t been at their best, but this game is a great opportunity for them to fine-tune a few things going into the playoffs. The Jazz are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Jazz win big.
