The Toronto Raptors invade Madison Square Garden to battle the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been on fire as they’ve reeled off eight wins in their last nine games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight win after sneaking past the Rockets in a 117-115 win on Friday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 29 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, Gary Trent Jr. added 26 points while Scottie Barnes chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense at the start and trailed by as many as 24 points in this one before they rallied in the second half and escaped with the narrow win thanks to a clutch shot from Trent Jr. with just 4.8 seconds left on the clock.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games and they will be aiming to stay hot after making light work of the Wizards in a 114-92 road win on Friday. Obi Toppin led the team with 35 points on 14 of 22 shooting, Immanuel Quickley added 23 points with 10 assists while Evan Fournier chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game with a 36-19 second quarter to overcome an early 13-point deficit, before running away with it in the second half where they blew the Wizards off the floor.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Knicks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the Raptors are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall.
The Raptors could be shorthanded in this one as they’ve listed Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby as questionable, but that’s nothing compared to the Knicks who are still without Nerlens Noel and RJ Barrett, while Mitchell Robinson and Quentin Grimes are both questionable. The Raptors are the team in better form, they are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall and they have more to play for in this one, so I’ll take the Raptors in this spot.
