The Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Sunday night.
The Miami Heat have been on a roll as they’ve won six games in a row and they will be eager to stay hot after sneaking past the Hawks in a 113-109 win on Friday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 24 points, six rebounds and four assists, Jimmy Butler added 20 points while Kyle Lowry chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Heat shot 55 percent from the field and 11 of 26 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Hawks in a tight contest until late in the fourth quarter where they closed the final 2:46 with a 10-2 run to escape with the hard-fought victory behind some clutch play from Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost seven of their last eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Hornets in a 128-101 road loss on Thursday. Chuma Okeke led the team with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Moritz Wagner added 17 points while Markelle Fultz and RJ Hampton each scored 12 points. As a team, the Magic shot 40 percent from the field and 15 of 48 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting a losing battle in the second half after getting blown off the floor by 40-22 in the second quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400, 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. The Magic are 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 15-7-1 in the last 23 meetings in Orlando and the Heat are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Heat will again be without PJ Tucker and Jimmy Butler while Omer Yurtseven, Gabe Vincent, Markieff Morris and Dewayne Dedmon are all questionable. The Magic are still missing Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs and Wendell Carter Jr. while Mo Bamba is questionable for this one. It’s hard to make much of an argument for the Magic who have been ice-cold lately, but I think they can hang around and get the cover in their last game of the season against the shorthanded Heat who will have one eye on the playoffs.
