The New York Knicks invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their last four games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Nets in a 110-98 loss on Wednesday. Alec Burks led the team with 24 points, RJ Barrett added 23 points with seven rebounds and seven assists while Obi Toppin chipped in with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 38 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 38 points in the second quarter to take a 17-point lead into halftime, only to get run down in the second half where they were outscored by 60-31. Immanuel Quickley had a night to forget as he scored just six points on one of eight shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in great form as they’ve won five of their last eight games, but they will be looking for a better performance in this one after getting routed by the Hawks in a 118-103 road loss on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 26 points, 18 rebounds and four assists while Corey Kispert and Daniel Gafford each scored 12 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 35 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Hawks in a tightly contested first half, before they went cold and scored just 38 points in the second half to get blown out in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss. The Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 8-23-1 ATS in their last 32 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Washington.
The Knicks are still missing six players including Derrick Rose, Nerlens Noel and Mitchell Robinson while Quentin Grimes is listed as questionable. The Wizards are still without Kyle Kuzma, but they were on a nice run before they ran into the Hawks on Wednesday. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Knicks are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games and I think they can pull off the minor upset in this spot.
