The Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors collide at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to a five-game slide after getting routed by the Nets in a 118-105 road loss on Tuesday. Kevin Porter Jr. led the team with 36 points on 13 of 26 shooting, Jalen Green added 30 points while Alperen Sengun chipped in with 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Rockets shot just 40 percent from the field and 11 of 43 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed by as many as 21 points in the third quarter before they were able to find their offense. Joshua Christopher had a rough night as he scored just five points on two of 11 shooting off the bench while Garrison Matthews scored just four points on one of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the 76ers in a 119-114 win last night. Pascal Siakam led the team with a triple-double of 37 points with 11 rebounds and 12 assists, Gary Trent Jr. added 30 points while Precious Achiuwa chipped in with 20 points on seven of 11 shooting. As a team, the Raptors shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and had to work their way back from a 15-point deficit, before they poured in 63 points in the second half to escape with the impressive win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the Rockets are 5-13 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Toronto.
The Rockets are still without Eric Gordon, Dennis Schroder and Christian Wood, while the Raptors are without OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet. The Rockets have little to play for at this stage of the season while the Raptors are trying to hold on the fifth seed with just three games remaining. The line is quite hefty, but I’m sticking with the Raptors to dominate at home.
