The Cleveland Cavaliers pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Friday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short to the Magic in a 120-115 road loss on Tuesday. Darius Garland led the team with 27 points and 10 assists, Lauri Markkanen added 25 points while Kevin Love chipped in with 17 points, 13 rebounds and three assists off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 48 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to lead for most of the first half, before they faded away in the third quarter after the Magic went on a 18-7 run.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in decent form as they’ve won six of their past 10 games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after routing the Knicks in a 110-98 road win on Wednesday. Kevin Durant led the team with a triple-double of 32 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Kyrie Irving added 24 points with eight rebounds and seven assists while Seth Curry and Patty Mills scored 15 points each. As a team, the Nets shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half, but they didn’t give up and dominated the second half by 60-31 to win easily in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Nets are 5-25-1 ATS in their last 31 home games, 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games against a team with a losing road record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall.
The Cavaliers will be keeping an eye on Evan Mobley who is listed as questionable for this one, while the Nets are still without Goran Dragic while Seth Curry is expected to be available. The Cavaliers are coming into this one in poor form and low on confidence, so I’m sticking with the Nets to get the win and cover at home.
