The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Pacers in a 131-122 road win on Tuesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 45 points, 13 rebounds and two assists, Tyrese Maxey added 30 points with seven assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 54 percent from the field and a sizzling 23 of 40 from the 3-point line as they exploded for a ridiculous 49 points in the second quarter to build a 27-point lead, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing as the 76ers had to rally late after the Pacers cut their lead to just four points.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last seven games and they will be eager to stay hot after taking down the streaking Hawks in a 118-108 win on Tuesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 31 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, Scottie Barnes added 19 points with 14 rebounds, Chris Boucher added 18 points while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 12 points and nine assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 44 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they held the Hawks to just 21 points in the second quarter to take control of the game, before running away with it in the second half behind a big night from Siakam.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as a road underdog and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Raptors are 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games against a team with a winning record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 12-5-1 in the last 18 meetings overall, the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Toronto and the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The 76ers will be a little shorthanded in this one as Matisse Thybulle is ineligible to play in Toronto, while the Raptors have listed OG Anunoby and Yuta Watanabe as questionable. There is plenty at stake in this one in terms of playoff seeding and you could really make an argument for either side in what should be a close one. However, the 76ers are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, while the Raptors are 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games against a team with a winning record, so I’ll stick with the Raptors in a close one.
