The New York Knicks play host to the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent form as they’ve won nine of their past 14 games and they will be eager to stay hot after routing the Rockets in a 118-105 home win last night. Kyrie Irving led the team with 42 points and six assists on 13 of 24 shooting, Kevin Durant added 18 points with nine rebounds and seven assists, Bruce Brown scored 15 points while Andre Drummond chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Nets shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Rockets in the first half to build an early 21-point lead, which allowed them to cruise in the second half unchallenged.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be hoping to stay hot after routing the Magic in a 118-88 road win on Sunday. RJ Barrett led the team with 27 points and six assists, Obi Toppin added 20 points with eight rebounds and three assists, Immanuel Quickley tallied a triple-double of 20 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists while Alec Burks chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 48 percent from the field and 15 of 44 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they held the Magic to just 20 points in the first quarter to take a 10-point lead into halftime, before they restricted them to just 15 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 35 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 road games, 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days’ rest and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Knicks are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings in New York, the Nets are 8-20 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall and the Nets are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in New York.
The Nets are going to keep an eye on James Johnson and Seth Curry who are both listed as day to day ,while the Knicks are still without Nerlens Noel and they’ve listed Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride as questionable. The Nets are the obvious favorites as they’re coming into this game with much more at stake, but the Knicks have quietly been playing some of their best basketball of the season and they have won five of their last seven games. You can make an argument for either side, but I’m sticking with the Knicks and the points in what should be a close one.
