The Houston Rockets travel to the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in poor form as they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a four-game losing streak after getting stopped by the Timberwolves in a 139-132 loss on Sunday. Jalen Green led the team with 31 points and five assists, Joshua Christopher added 30 points on 11 of 14 shooting off the bench, Alperen Sengun scored 14 points with 15 rebounds and four assists, while Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in with 21 points and eight assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 56 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line, but their problems on the defensive end cost them another poor start as they were always fighting an uphill battle after leaking 42 points in the first quarter and 80 points by halftime.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after coming up short against the Hawks in a 122-115 road loss on Saturday. Kevin Durant led the team with 55 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Kyrie Irving added 31 points while Andre Drummond chipped in with eight points and 13 rebounds. As a team, the Nets shot 42 percent from the field and 17 of 37 from the 3-point line, but they got outscored by 37-20 in the second quarter which kept them on the backfoot the entire night, despite a monster game from Durant.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games as a road underdog and 15-34 ATS in their last 49 games as an underdog. The Nets are 5-24-1 ATS in their last 30 home games, 9-23 ATS in their last 32 games against a team below .400 and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall.
The Rockets have shut down Dennis Schroder, Eric Gordon and Christian Wood for the rest of the season, while the Nets will be keeping an eye on Seth Curry and James Johnson who are both questionable for this one. The line is ridiculous in this one, but it’s still warranted as the talent disparity is gigantic and there’s just more at stake for the Nets at this point of the season. This is surely a game I’d rather stay away from, but if I had to choose, I’d lean towards the Nets at home in this spot.
